Meet the Celebrity Cats of The Purring Quest

It is a great pleasure for us to reveal the identities of all the famous cats involved in The Purring Quest:

Oskar was born on May 5th, 2011, and was adopted on July 11th of that year. He was an outdoor cat living on a small farm in the Loess Hills of western Iowa. Oskar’s condition is a severe form of microphthalmia, which simply means that his eyes never fully developed due to certain genetic factors. Despite missing his sense of sight, Oskar is a very healthy and very happy cat. He functions perfectly well using his other senses, and many visitors don’t even realize that he’s fully blind!. Oskar’s sidekick and best friend is known as “The Klaus”.

“My name is Henri, and I am filled with ennui. As an existential cat philosopher, it is my fate to contemplate the world around me and ponder my tormented existence. They say I am an internet sensation on YouTube, thanks to a thieving filmmaker”.

“Listen, I’m kinda busy. There’s some suspicious rustling in the ivy that requires my attention, so I’ll keep this short. My name is Cooper and my humans thought it would be fun to send me out once a week with a small digital camera on my collar to find out what I’m up to. So now I’m not only the neighborhood patrol, it seems I’m a documentary photographer, too. It’s cool – the camera’s light so I don’t really notice it. I also find that the local lady cats rather dig a bad boy with a camera”.

Nora is an Internet & International Media star who burst on the scene in January 2007 when her first video, “Practice Makes Purr-fect,” hit YouTube. Lithuanian composer/conductor Mindaugas Piecaitis wrote a concerto based on Nora’s piano stylings. It was originally performed by the Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Piecaitis, and has since been performed by other a dozen orchestras around the world. Nora at the piano is projected on a large video screen behind the performers.

“Hi, My name is Nala. I am 3 years old. I am a siamese mix with tabby. I was left at animal shelter when I was 5 months. But I have a loving home now. Nice to meet you 🙂 “.
